Get playing tennis at Bubwith

Players of all age and abilities are welcome at Bubwith Tennis Club – and there is lots to get involved with if you want to. If not, then simply come along to the club when it is convenient for you for your own private match.

If your racket needs a little TLC, we can even help organise restringing. See the facilities page for details of our partnership with Rob Jackson and Angell.

Court availability

Bubwith Tennis Club does not operate a court booking system – but with three courts availability is good and members can simply drop by when they want to. However, please be away that league fixtures, club tournaments, club nights and coaching sessions take priority over private matches.

The courts are to remain padlocked when not in use. Keys to the courts can be obtained from the clubhouse. Please see the membership page for details on how to purchase a clubhouse key.

Club Nights

Club Nights are held during the summer season and are on a Wednesday evening from 6.30 until the light fades. All new adult and teenager members are welcome to join those club members who come down for a social hit.

To make things easier, there is a Club Night WhatsApp group – just email Ian Scoffin your details to be added.

This session runs after the Junior Coaching sessions; parents are welcome to come along and chat to the coach and discuss any coaching requirements too.

Monthly doubles handicap tournament

Our free-to-enter* doubles handicap tournament, organised by the club’s Tournament Director Shaun Pinchbeck, takes place on a monthly basis during the season for club members aged 13 and above.

With a maximum number of 12 players able to participate, the tournament sees all pairings play each other, with everyone in with a chance of winning thanks to the handicap system.

On arrival, you will be informed about who you will be partnering, before a knock-up and handicap assessment. Prizes are awarded to the winning pair.

Upcoming tournaments:

  • Saturday 19th June @ 7pm – part of the 24 Hour Tennis Marathon (minimum donations/sponsorship apply)
  • Wednesday 28th July @ 6.45pm

If you have any questions about the tournament, please email Shaun.

* except for Saturday 19th June 2021

Practice sessions

In addition to club nights which are open to all, we operate two other sessions specifically focussing on ladies and men’s doubles:

  • Ladies: Friday mornings from 10am-12pm
  • Men: Sunday morning from 10am-12pm

Non-members: Guests & visitors

Accompanied by a member

Non-members accompanied by a member are welcome to play at Bubwith Tennis Club on a couple of occasions. The first visit is free and the second visit is just £3 per person. For any other visits, you will need to become a member. Please ensure that the appropriate fee is paid into the visitors’ box inside the clubhouse and that the visitors’ book is completed correctly.

Unaccompanied by a member

Due to the current restrictions regarding coronavirus, the club is not open to visitors who are unaccompanied by a member. We will be reviewing the situation regularly and hope to be able to welcome all visitors back soon.

Our membership rates offer great value for money, and children of primary school age are free (as are their parents/guardians if all they want to do is play tennis with their children). See our membership page for full info.
